But i ask "o life, what have i been doing with you?"
death is the absence of life. Asystole. A flat line. The absence of electrical activity of one's cardiac muscle. No lub-dubs. No brainwaves. The stillness.
Yet, death is just a transit point. That is what i believe. What the bible says, and what i choose to believe. It's alright if you choose to believe that death is an end in itself. I'm not here to debate that. But to me, the death of this temporal earthly life is a transit point. Yet, death amplifies the value of life. Even this temporal one. And eternal death greatly amplifies the value of eternal life. Death. It's nothing in itself. But it defines so much. Death in itself defines us mortals, for being mortal is being susceptible to death. As death is the penalty of our wrongdoings and Separation the reminder of sin. Yet, we live to know that now the power of death is conquered. The separated shall be reconciled, interestingly, ultimately through death. We are no longer slaves to death, but mighty conquerors. And death will not hold us down.
But life, how have i treated you? Have i wasted you away? Have i been a grumbling and moaning bad stewart? Have i been wasting it living in a cocoon? Have i not brave it out of my comfort zone? Have i slept you away? have i used you as i should? Have i lived doing what i should be doing? Have i focused on the things i should have? Have i not done all You want me to?
To live is Christ and to die is gain. Let me live in such a way. Let me live my life alive and not be a dead life.
*sorry about the sudden morbid tone, a friend's brother has just passed away at a tender age of 23. while he's probably rejoicing in heaven right now, my heart goes out to his family. Yet, this event leads me into a deeply comtemplative mood. Perhaps we should all think about life once again.*
