Basically, in modern context, it turns into a day when everything becomes green and everyone does something irish, eats something irish and dance to irish music.
And in a not-so-irish town called Edinburgh, people just connect St Patrick's day to Guiness...lots and lots of Guiness as well as all sorts of irish whiskey and alcohol. It's after all another reason to party!
So, happy St Patrick's everyone. As long as you don't do crazy stuff that would set off the fire alarm peeps! :)
