What is it?

When God gave Israelites supernatural provision - food that form as dew, that was enough to sustain them, that miraculously appear everyday for 6 days every week, that miraculously disappear when not taken, that miraculously sustained them, that was enough for the 2 million of them in the desert, the Israelites couldn't help but be in awe of it - so much so that they named it 'manna' or 'What is it?'

But when it became normal, when it became routine, when the Israelites became used to it, manna became food. Manna just meant food. It ended there. The significance behind it disappeared. The awe behind behind it melted away. The thankfulness gone. And soon they became tired of it, and they started desiring the more 'proper' food they had in Egypt. Food that was humanly viewed as good. Humanly normal, but good. Contempt somehow manifested.

It's interesting, how we as Christians are called to live life. To live life supernaturally by God's grace, to live life from a God-given perspective as a normal thing. And sometimes, things get so normal, it loses its awesomeness. It loses the 'what is it?' attached to it. It changes from "oh my God, thank you so much for this provision you've given, thank you for rescuing us out of the darkness into your wonderful light, thank you for seeing us through every step, thank you for this great opportunity, thank you God for sustaining us" to "Oh come on, let's get on with life already, wasn't it so good back then? things were so simple and so uncomplicated?" or just "yea yea, thank you for the food, what's next?"

Even as our food or our manna is to do His will, let us get used to the fact of the supernatural, yet not get complacent. Let's never cease to give thanks and stay in awe of 'what-is-it' and never lose the wonder of it all. :)
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

- Psalm 51:12
