I posted the following in the facebook group for "vote for a change in malaysia"
I love this country. and if u are in this group, i know u love it to. Why bother for change, if you don't even like it, right?
I've a dream for change. And you have that too.
But the only thing that might be different is how, why and what do you want changed in this nation.
Nevertheless, we all know something. There's something wrong. It doesn't feel totally right. It feels like we can do so much better. A sense of injustice. A sense of not fulfilling your potential. A sense of being robbed. A sense of not belonging, or ashamed of belonging.
I think most people here will be shocked to say that my dream is actually in line with one of mahatir's famous speeches.
The formation of a bangsa malaysia.
It is an idea. But never realised. or at least, not yet. An idea of justice, fairness, real harmony. (not harmony due to suppressed voices) Harmony where we can have differences in opinions, shout it all loud and clear yet have the maturity to debate it as civilised adults without violence, without personal insults, without fights.
Judging by the malaysian parliament's debates, our current nation is still far from it.
I believe the only way of truly acheiving this dream is to follow onn jaafar's initial idea. The multi-racial party. Not BN. Not some multi-component party coalition. 1 party. 1 voice.
Gerakan tried, but it's under BN. end of story. DAP tried, but they were immature and raised up anti-malay issues.
Why not a merge in BN itself. The dissolution of the component parties. I'm so looking forward towards that. But i realise it's highly unlikely. That's why it's a dream.
I don't mind malays saying they wanna keep their special rights. It is in the constitution, and after all they are the majority.
but i still believe that the special rights do not go overboard. Meritocracy should come in somewhere before our nation just becomes one that goes for tea breaks 24/7.
I believe in a real democratic country (of course, maintaining the monarchy system). But i do not in any way believe that voting and election alone forms a democratic country.
There is no democracy if there's no opposition.
(or in m'sia case, almost none.)
Currently, all the opposition party members in parliament can only "make some noise". That's all.
No one to check whether someone is up to no good. No one to check for corruption. Man, that Dato Mohd Said (the Jasin MP) is still a Dato and still an MP.
All we need is some real maturity. Our education system can't breed maturity by forcing students to memorize stuff. History is meant to be discussed, not memorized. The trend in taking science subjects worsens the whole thing. I myself am a science student, but i just got to realise how shallow thinking was back in malaysia when i came overseas to study (that under FAMA scholarship...) People here know why they are fighting for things. They fight for power to stand up for principles and shout it out. Malaysian politics go the other way round. We shout out things we don't know so that we can get power. And after power is obtained, we don't know what to do with it, so we shout even more and waste time in the parliament. After all, you get a nice paycheck and all the allowances plus bonuses (much more kopi-o money if u are good too!)
This whole thing is an idea. An idea of a truly independent malaysia. Independent of corrupted leaders. Independent of inefficient leader. Independent of goyang kaki leaders. Independent of poverty due to inequalities. Independent of resource wasters.
An idea of a real seamless bangsa malaysia.
Maturity.
Only after that and not the "animal talks" in parliament, then all these can be achieved.
So what is it like now? 'Merdeka!' or 'Merdeka?'
So. What do u think? Hope nobody is offended by the above post. But even if u happen to be, i apologise, but let's discuss it maturely. That would be real democracy.
People who knew me when i was in secondary school would know me as a person who loathes the area of politics. i thought it was a waste of time. I thought it was just full of goyang kaki people. But now that i've seen what politics can do (i think i'm really influenced by david mcneish's lecture and the whole politic arena here) i've realised its power to change. The power of an idea can prove to be great. Politics...i wish the world was without it. I wish people would work towards all the goodness possible of the earth. But that's too idealistic. So now, it's either u are trapped in the system, or use the system to turn the tables around. There is no option number 3.

I totally enjoyed reading the flow of your thoughts. It resonates, and unfortunately, stays where it is, just an idea..
that's the sad case, and that's the way it'll stay, at least for these few moments more..
but i say, let's rise and revolt, lets sound the winds of change and bring meaning to our lives..
i hope u keep this blog alive, and go the distance.. for the better good :)
