after much flying, i realise how much i actually enjoy listening to different variation of english. it's not just the accent. it's how different people use english. I absolutely love Malaysian english. I quite like singaporean english. Asian chinese english is generally funny because we have this economy of words. We are precise. we don't spend 10 minutes to say something that can be said in 1. We are not exactly the most creative people. The best expression we can come up with is only three letters long. 'L-A-H'! and it means nothing. well, technically it doesn't mean nothing. It doesn't mean anything. That's better. hahaha.....
The Asian Indian English is slightly more expressive. It is full of exaggeration. While the speaking of Queen's English requires emphasis on certain syllables, Indian English seems to place emphasis on every single syllable. All the 'r's are rolled when possible. And Indian English speakers are very expressive. Body language wise too.
American English speakers are interesting to listen to. With different accents from all around America, it's definitely interesting to pick up the differences between one accent and another. There's one thing common among american english speakers. There's almost no such thing called proper American English. Unless you are still studying. Slangs are created everyday. And something meaningless becomes something with meaning after a little usage by Hollywood stars. And phrases like 'like' and 'such as' become so overuse all the British would do is just frown upon such usage of English. Yet, the Americans bring such a great input into the everchanging language. Like adding colours to a piece of art, or flavours to a dish. Oops, i meant color and flavor.
British English speakers are probably the most expressive speakers. There's no such thing as an economy of words. They take time to express their feelings, even if other human beings would express it quickly. Like when an American lady is afraid, she will shriek and say 'Oh My God!' as quickly and as loudly as possible while an American man would just start cursing almost immediately. Everything is dramatic, but instinctly quick. British English speakers on the other hand, would say something more than 5 words. For example, "Oh, what was that, that gave me a fright" with or without swear words.
