alternative western?

poverty in the midst of the hardworking poor = hard circumstance
poverty in the midst of the poor who are laidback = results of laziness
poverty in the midst of the poor due to lack of knowledge in financial management = results of ignorance
poverty in the midst of the rich = injustice
poverty due to funds given by the rich misued by the middleman = evil

I don't know why my heart just keeps pondering on the facts and figures on the lecture. It's just one lecture which i really can't forget. It was too shocking. Too unjust.

It's amazing how much change is worth here too. Can you imagine digging deep into your pocket to find a 1 pound or 2 pound change. That's 7-14 ringgit. can easily buy 7 paos or bowls of kolo mee.

Sadly over here the teh tarik alone costs a humongous 2.50 pounds (crap, i didn't get a mac with the pound symbol on my keyboard and i'm lazy to go the long route to get that symbol and i'm more willing to type out this explanation of why i'm doing this!)

Ok. Discussion.

Alternative medicine or western medicine?
Western medicine treats cause without much care on the psychological side and the side effects felt, but only to the side effects that actually harm the body.

Alternative medicine treats symptoms without much care of the cause (especially if it's internal) and not much care too for side effects that harm the body as long as the symptoms that hurt or are bothersome are cured.

So which one will you choose?

Western medicine is so practical it can be scary. The masked man in a long white coat with those crazy metal utensils (no i'm not gonna name scapel to forceps here) and that bloody cold stethoscope in contact with a patient's body is probably enough to give any 1st time patient hypertension and myocardial infarction.

The way of prescribing alternative medicine can be much easier, takes longer time, but patients do not feel as if they are patients but just rather normal human beings. But since it's not really evidence-based in nature, results might not be consistent and the risks are real depending on what procedures are done.

So would you treat a normal sore throat and cough with some medicine name you cannot pronounce or would you rather eat the chinese "pei pa kao" or stick with honey and tea or lemon and just wait and see?

Or being chinese, why don't we just try all?
As long as i feel better and look better we are all set to go?

But u certainly wouldn't go up to a person having cough due to his autoimmune disease like AIDS and say "pei pa kao" really works, right?

Or you wouldn't want to drag a kid or the way to the clinic to hear the doctor say the simple word cough in a super duper technical term that would make you start thinking bout funerals too, yea?

oh well, it's just about different circumstances. :D
