i'm having a very dysfunctional academic family (a programme where freshers get 2nd year students as their 'parents'. For starters, i have 2 dads and a mum. And next, my dad's 'godmother' is my sister's sister. That makes my sister my dad's aunt. Or that makes my sister my grandaunt. Or that makes my dad to have a daughter who is also his aunty.... All in all we came to a conclusion that my dad's dad was himself. How confusing is that?!
The meeting at Royal Medical Society was just like any other packed meet and greet freshers thing. Except that after that, most of the 'families' (with some already tipsy parents) head down to lava ignite (which unfortunately has a tight age limit) sounds familiar right? it happens to me again. I got stuck outside that area... But my family was nice enough to bring us for a game of pool instead at teviot student union building! and of course, they paid for the taxi rides, the pool games and also drinks! :D And we get to head over to my new academic parent flat. wheee....
Some lectures have been interesting. Others would have been interesting if only i could hear the lecturers' mumbling despite all the coughing orchestra in the anatomy lecture theatre full of echoes due to the freshers flu. Others were just a matter of passing time (no doubt these are important to study if i dun wanna spend summer for resits!).
Practicals were more of my sort of thing. (No, we dun dissect cadavers here. And i have actually yet to see one.) And PBL too. I can keep awake much longer and actually find myself interested in learning things for myself in these! Maybe Ms Karen was right in her 'learning style' test after all. i am an activist. But i do reflect quite a lot by keeping this thing running!
Weather! It's gonna be 1 C until 10 am today. And then, it'll be 6 C, then a slight increase to 10 C and that's the max! Seniors say that it's exceptionally cold in this time of the year (despite being edinburgh!). The good thing is, the wind will not be too strong tomorrow! :D
